Koch Snowflake Ornament

The snowflake fractal design was discovered by Helge von Koch in 1904. A fractal is a design whereby a part of the design has the same characteristics as the whole.

The snowflake fractal design is also known as a recursive design because it repeats itself. A recursive design is a programming approach where a function calls itself to generate repeating patterns. For an actual representation of a Koch Snowflake go to: https://www.turtlestitch.org/run#cloud:Username=Elaine&ProjectName=Koch%20Snowflake

My Koch Snowflake ornament illustrates four iterations of a Koch fractal. The process begins with Level 1 at the center, and each subsequent snowflake outward represents an additional level, progressing up to Level 4. The sequence of side lengths...300, 172.1, 86.43, 38, models a Koch snowflake where each iteration decreases in size according to a decaying scale factor. This pattern effectively describes the progressively smaller triangles added with each iteration, with each level being scaled down based on the previously calculated ratio.

The ornament is framed with a satin stitch and a circle for a hanger.
